Our History
Southport Carrara Netball Association was established in September 1975 as Keebra Park Netball Club affiliated with Gold Coast Netball Association. The name changed to Southport Carrara Netball Association in 1993. Over the years we have seen our junior players go on to achieve success at representative level and with our strong focus on development, we look forward to this continuing in the future.
How we operate
SCNA is managed by a dedicated and passionate group of volunteers. We are affiliated with netball Queensland so are guided within their management structure, policies and procedures and all players are registered through this affiliation so therefore can participate within all competitions under this canopy. We are funded by our game fees (less overheads), carnivals and various fundraising events and for major works apply for applicable community grants. As a non-profit organisation we see these funds reinvested back to our members by association improvements and planning for the future.
Where we are now
SCNA runs four competitions catering for total community participation. Starting with our Junior Competition which is played on Saturday Mornings from 8.30 am till 11.30 am. Our Monday night Competition includes *Intermediates division for 13 to 16 yrs, *Ladies/Open social competition for 14rs and above and *Mixed competition for 16years and above. This competition is held at our Benowa Road home courts. Our *Tuesday Elite one-hour competition and *Thursday night competitions are held at Emmanuel College, Carrara Stadium and St Kevin’s Catholic School. We play netball all year round with two seasons. Our first begins in January and runs to July. Our second season begins in July and runs till December. At present, the association has 1477 registered members across juniors, seniors, umpires and officials, making us one of the largest associations in Queensland.
